The Toyota Highlander has been a part of the lineup since back in 2001, making it over two decades old and undoubtedly a stalwart member of the family. It has become so popular over the years that the brand has decided to make a larger variant to slide between the Highlander and Sequoia on the lineup. The new model, called the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, will soon be available here in Fort Scott, Kansas, offering more interior space than its shared namesake and more premium amenities.
The brand-new Toyota Grand Highlander will be offered with three different powertrain options to choose from, making sure there is a Grand Highlander for everyone. The standard option is for those still looking to get a traditional gasoline-powered engine, as it features a 2.4L turbocharged engine. The second option is an ordinary 2.5L hybrid powertrain, while the third is a performance-oriented 2.5L Hybrid Max powertrain capable of generating 362 horsepower alongside 400 pound-feet of torque.
The three different powertrains lead to three different variants of the Grand Highlander, the traditional gas model, the hybrid model and the hybrid MAX model. Each variant is not only available in either front- or all-wheel drive, but also in three different trim levels. The three trim levels include XLE, Limited and Platinum, each with its own suite of standard features that get progressively more premium the higher up the list you go.
As one of the newest models in production, the Grand Highlander will of course feature the latest version of the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced driver-assistive safety features – TSS 3.0. The newest iteration includes updated versions of Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Road Sign Assist. It also includes automatic high beams and the new Proactive Driving Assist system.
