One of the most iconic pickup trucks on the market today, it seems like the Chevy Silverado 1500 has been around a lot longer than 25 years. But in truth, it first entered production in 1998 and joined the lineup in 1999. Now, we’re stoked to offer the fourth-generation version of the full-size, light-duty pickup truck right here at Briggs Fort Scott. Said generation kicked off for the 2019 model year on the nameplate’s 20th anniversary, and it has shown no signs of slowing down any time soon.
There were two major new things in the Silverado this year, with the first being the next-gen 3.0L inline-six turbo-diesel Duramax engine option. The newest version features a 10% increase in horsepower to 305 and a 7.6% increase in torque to 495 pound-feet, thanks to several refinements within the engine. In addition, a new ZR2 Bison trim level was introduced to the lineup.
In total, there are four different powertrain options from which to choose for your 2023 Silverado 1500. In addition to the enhanced 3.0L Duramax we already touched on, there is the standard 2.7L turbocharged high-output engine with 310 hp/430 lb-ft., an available 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 with 355 hp/383 lb-ft. and an available 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 with 420 hp/460 lb-ft. The maximum trailer weight you can get is 13,300 lbs, and max payload is 2,260 lbs.
There are nine different trim levels from which to choose, as well as two different drivetrains, three cab styles and three bed lengths. Trim levels include WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2 and High Country. You’ll also be able to choose whether you’d like 2- or 4-Wheel Drive before opting for one of five cab/bed combos. The combinations include Regular Cab/Standard Bed, Regular Cab/Long Bed, Double Cab/Standard Bed, Crew Cab/Short Bed and Crew Cab/Standard Bed.
