One of the most popular vehicles on the brand’s lineup, Ford introduced the Explorer back for the 1991 model year. Back then it was a midsize traditional SUV, but in 2011 it transitioned into being a midsize crossover and has only grown in popularity. The fifth generation, which is its current gen, kicked off just a couple of years ago in 2020. Even still, the Ford Explorer received a few exciting updates for the 2022 model year before arriving here in Fort Scott, Kansas. We’re stoked to be able to provide this fantastic midsize crossover to shoppers here in the area, read on below to learn more about the vehicle.
The most exciting addition for the 2022 model year is the new ST-Line trim level. This new trim provides the aesthetic of the Explorer ST trim level without the performance powertrain and features that come on that model. Additional enhancements include a rear-wheel-drive option for the Explorer ST trim, a set of upgraded 18” five-spoke Sparkle Silver aluminum wheels, new Flight Blue and Burgundy Velvet exterior color options, as well as a few other new options depending on the trim level.
Driver-assistive safety features are some of the most important and exciting technologies found in any vehicle. The Ford Explorer includes a few driver assist tech options including Auto High-Beam Headlamps, Rear View Camera, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping Assist and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control. In addition, you can opt to add the available Active Park Assist 2.0 to your Explorer.
The 2022 Ford Explorer is a three-row midsize crossover, meaning it has three rows of seats for up to 7 passengers. You and those passengers will have up to 152.7 cubic feet of space to stretch out and get comfortable in, as that’s the vehicle’s passenger volume. In addition, you’ll have 18.2 cu. ft. of space to fill with cargo behind the third row of seats, or you can drop down each row to open up additional space. Behind the second row is 47.9 cu. ft. or 87.8 cu. ft. behind the first.
